Antique figural Mercury God Mantle Clock by Ansonia New York circa 1886 1894

This is an Antique 1886 - 1894 Mercury Mantel Clock made by Ansonia Clock Company. This Clock Runs and keeps time. It is an 8 day clock with gongs that mark the hour and half hour. Currently the clock is running a little fast, about 3 - 5 minutes a day. I think this can be adjusted, but I do not know how to fine tune the time.

The clock has been serviced by Ballard Time Shop in 1974 and in 1988. This clock comes with the winding key. The back of the clock works inside the back access door reads, Ansonia Clock Co.

Patented June 14, 81 New York USA. The clock is in very good condition and is very stunning. Note the wings on the helmet of Mercury are missing on the left side and broken on the right side. See the last two pictures for close up pics. The missing wings are not very noticeable.

I had to go look at other similar clocks to even be sure. The Clock is about 17 3/4" wide, by 71/4" deep, and about 15 tall. The clock weighs 23 LBS 8 OZ. Ansonia Clock company was founded in Ansonia Connecticut in 1851, and moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1878.

Ansonia Clock company produced 440 different models of clocks up until about 1929. Most of the items I sell are estate finds, and are presented to you in, as is, as found condition. They are described to the best of my knowledge. Some wear is to be expected, unless described as flawless or mint. I can't know everything about every item I offer, I do inspect each item and list all known flaws or damage. So please take a good look at the photos and ask questions if need be.
